Barbaric Practice Used Disproportionately Against Black People

"There is no part of me that existed then that exists now," Williams said recently during an interview with The Associated Press.

"I haven't had a lot of joy in my life. But in here," he said, pointing to his heart, "I'm happy. I am peaceful in here. I am joyful in here."

Today was quite a depressing day. As a staunch student of our criminal justice system ... I was admittedly sad about this failure. It was so cliche to hear the turnover of "he deserved to die."

Until someone can explain to me HOW taking a life will compensate for a life already lost ... or how taking a life will demonstrate that murder is wrong ... I simply cannot accept that ANYONE deserves to die.
