    FBI Labels Nonviolent Protesters Terrorists

Washington, Dec 11 (Prensa Latina) The Colorado American Civil Liberties Union has denounced that the FBI recorded the names and car license plate numbers of several dozen peaceful anti-war protesters in domestic terrorism files.
As reported by The Gazette website, the ACLU was able to obtain the information through the Freedom of Information Act on protests in Colorado Springs in 2002 and 2003.
Although FBI spokeswoman Monique Kelso denied the task force was frivolously gathering information and wasting resources, the first set of activists had trespassed on a roof to unfurl a banner and the second were gathered at a carpool site to go to an anti-war protest.
Mark Silverstein, Colorado ACLU legal director, confirmed "These documents confirm that the names and license plate numbers of several dozen peaceful protesters who committed no crime are now in a JTTF file marked 'counterterrorism.'"

"The FBI is unjustifiably treating nonviolent public protest as though it were domestic terrorism," Silverstein denounced.

He emphasized that "the FBI's misplaced priorities threaten to deter legitimate criticism of government policy while wasting taxpayer resources that should be directed to investigating real terrorists."
