    Not All Economic Sectors Teetering. Verizon 27 billion competetion suppressing purchase of Alltel

    Reports surfaced Wednesday that Verizon was in talks with the rural wireless firm, which sold to pair of private equity firms about six months ago. Alltel would not comment on the reports, first broadcast by financial news network CNBC, that Verizon was looking to buy it for about $27 billion.
