Iceberg crashes into Drygalski Ice Tongue

PARIS, April 7 (UPI) -- An iceberg, C-16, rammed into the Drygalski Ice Tongue, a large sheet of glacial ice in Antarctica, breaking off a huge block and forming a new iceberg.

The floating Drygalski Ice Tongue, which protrudes almost 50 miles into the ocean, is connected to the David Glacier. If it were to break loose, scientists fear it could alter ocean currents, changing the region's climate, the European Space Agency said.

The repiglikkkan party leadership continues to insist we've got no problem with global warming, so don't need to alter our behavior to curb it.
They may be right that we don't need to alter our behavior. We may have gone past the point at which we can arrest the process, as it is a process, something repiglikkkans don't quite grasp because it isn't rigidly black and white enough for them.
The way I understand it is the more ice melts, the less earth is able to reflect heat back to space. The more ice melt the more methane is released into the environment. These operations are part of a larger process that escalates warming, increases the amount of fresh water flowing into the salty ocean, amps up more storms, creates a light environment amenable to less food plant growth and more weeds, more radiation and so on.
This can end life as we know it. Mass extinctions. We're having them now.
The right wing monotheists, of course, welcome mass destruction as fulfillment of their delusions prophecies, or deny this is occurring, because they don't have grasp on reality anyway. The rest of the repiglikkkan party is only concerned with avoiding paying income taxes.
