Partisan Republican Depatment of Justice wants to Force New York State to Update to Potentially hackable Voting machines
[...]
As a member of the New York state Legislature’s Help America Vote Act (HAVA) Implementation Task Force, I recognize the vitally important need to assure that our state’s voting system is accessible to all New Yorkers and that each and every vote is counted fairly and accurately, especially given what happened in Florida during the 2000 presidential election.
This is one of the most important issues that I have worked on throughout my years of public service. After HAVA was enacted in 2002, many states rushed to replace their existing voting machines with money appropriated by congress and are now experiencing buyer’s remorse for having done so. Your editorial unfairly chastises New York for its delay without noting the problems that other so-called “compliant” states have faced.
