AOL Proudly Releases Massive Amounts of Private Data

AOL Releases the private search data of 650 000 customers to the public domain. On August 6th 2006, the international internet service provider known as American Online (AOL) took it upon themselves to release to the public domain an archive of their customers search habits over a period of 3 months. None of their customers were asked for their consent prior to the release of this data, which has resulted in international outrage from the public. Within hours of the data being published the AOL webpage mysteriously disappeared, however by this time the data had already propagated across the entire world on blogs, news sites and mirror sites.
