Mexico: Apparel manufacturing jobs are in a steep decline

A GUASCALIENTES - She works long hours on her feet in a noisy, windowless factory and makes only $6.80 a day , 45 cents more than most workers there because she embellishes denim jeans with dainty flowers. But Yesenia Garcia, 27, is glad to have a job.

The globalizationg, right wing, free trade ownership society thinks she is overpaid so will move their factory to a more economically efficient, totalitarian place such as China.

When workers take to the streets in China, like they do now and then in Mexico, the Chinese government arrests and imprisons them or shoots them. Things are made very cheaply in China and our American branded international businessmen and political "leadership" like that kind of labor ( SLAVE).
Imagine! They sell you blue jeans for 40 dollars which it costs them a dollar to produce.
    Free trade. Outstanding.
The next time George Bush tells you democracy and "free markets" are the same thing, think about that, that preference he has for goods made in China and oil produced by monarchies and dictators.

According to figures from the Mexican labor secretariat, the nation has lost 813,000 manufacturing jobs in the six years of President Vicente Fox's administration.

The Gap, Old navy etc., not just walmart and Tom Delay, insist slave labor is good for business.
Because they and their friends demand 100 million dollars a week in profit, instead of 97 million, human needs don't matter.
Besides, John Calvin told the republican protestants swarming the US congress that all tainted, sin-stained humans must lift themselves out of damnation and poverty through Jesus.
Poverty is a sign of spiritual decay, an expression of negative judgment by God. Any kind of law restricting trade or supporting fair labor practices is an affront to god. T
here is no political or social issue at work, just the character and spiritual quality of the humans in question. That's why NOLA was drowned by Katrina. It's people were bloated with sin of the very worse kind, sexual sin. It is much more comforting to Jesus for you to kill your neighbor than fuck your neighbor,.
Just ask the leaders of the right wing.

Yep, nothing else matters but accepting Jesus and if you'd just do that your salary might rise to 7 dollars a day and even if you died in an environmental disaster you'd go to heaven with gold paved streets.

While the drastic loss in textiles and apparel is often attributed to competition from even lower-wage factories in China, economic development experts in Mexico say the country needs to do more to support export industries from financing to technological backing.

Yes, globalize even more. It's been so good for everyone on the planet. It's lead to war, class war, massive displacement of people, more pollution, mismanagement of resources, lack of social and political innovation and galloping totalitarianism pretty much everywhere but especially in the United States.
