Land of milk and money
Critics say Horizon and other mass-production dairies don't deserve the organic label -- and that the USDA needs to come up with a real definition.
I'm behind on my blog, partly because I've been using internet time to catch up on the organic industry's metamorphosis into agribusiness.
Virtually every organic product you see in your grocery store, and many you see in your health food store, are under control of agribusiness conglomerates who do not actually follow organic standards for producing your food..even though in our corporate pig worshipping society it is legal for them to mislead you about this.
The buying up of organic companies by agribusiness concerns is why you see sugar in Muir Glen tomato products these days and why Cascadian Farms phased out Plum Fruit Spread and other products that did not sell as well as grape, yet sold. They don't value relationships with customers or view customers as long term investments - they value only profit of the moment and will do anything to get it, including destroy your health.
Cascadian Farms and Muir Glen are both operated by General Mills, a scary conglomerate that has poisoned generations of Americans with nary so much as a backward glance.
And on it goes. Any organic product you use is likely being produced by companies that don't give a damn about your life or health and using production methods that are as far from organic as you can conceive, yet sold to you at that special organic price.
