Illinois House OKs bill requiring disclosure on automatic calls

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. Groups making automated campaign-related telephone calls to voters would have to disclose who they are under a measure that barely squeaked through the Illinois House today.
Lawmakers supported the measure 60-to-43 to send it back to the Senate.

The legislation stems from "robo-calls" made last month by the Illinois House Republican leadership.

The automated and anonymous calls criticized more than a dozen House Democrats for supporting the governor's budgetary policies.
