Here in Illinois we have a repiglikkkan primary coming up

(Thanks to Brian birthday boy for the picture of JO)

One of our scary candidates for governor is Jim Oberweis. He's run for senator twice and is apparently desperate to hold any office. He wants more power than he already has so he can inflict his white makes right views on the all those progressives in Chicago.
He's bad news. Bigots always are.

Notice the abundant use of cliche in the sun times article I've linked to the title. Is it any wonder so many unsuitable people run for office? The information system is so loaded with garbage, so stuffed with irrelevant distractions and half truths and untruth, it makes it had to attain clarity in one's thinking about politics.

    from the sun times
Once ballots are totaled in the March 21 Republican gubernatorial primary, Jim Oberweis' political career can be summed up by one of two cliches: Either three strikes and you're out, or third time is a charm. see? This writer gives us false choices. Oberweis has the means to keep running over and over. He is a millionaire businessman. That is the real story, untold as usual, that our political system has been taken over by millionaire businessmen who pursue their own interests at the expense of the common good.

    more from the Sun Times
To sell himself as a homespun conservative steeped in Midwestern values, Jim Oberweis takes a cooler full of vanilla ice cream samples from his Aurora dairy to political functions, doling out frozen treats to supporters and the curious.
    [...]
Better watch out for Bovine growth hormone.

    from wikipedia
In February 2006, Oberweis started a series of attack ads for television markets, against rival Republican candidate Judy Baar Topinka, that were widely criticized, mostly for using "fake" headlines on the images of actual Illinois newspapers. The Oberweis campaign defended the ads by stating that these "headlines" were, however, excerpts taken from the actual articles. These ads also came under review by the Illinois Republican Party. Because of the controversy generated, several television stations withdrew Oberweis's ads.
You ought to hear him on the subject of immigrants if you think this is bad. And he's running on his "ethics."
