Focus Action Ads Support Iowa Marriage Amendment; Ads Highlight Iowans' Disenfranchisement by Their Elected Officials

Focus on the Family Action today launched an ad campaign in support of the Iowa Marriage Amendment, currently stalled in the State Government Committee by Sens. Michael Gronstal and Jack Kibbie. The ads, which feature a young Iraqi woman holding up a purple- inked finger, state that "Iraqis have the right to vote. Why don't Iowans?"

"Iowans deserve the same right to vote on how marriage will be defined as the citizens of the 19 other states who overwhelmingly protected traditional marriage in their state constitutions," said Peter Brandt, senior director of government and public policy for Focus on the Family Action. "The citizens of Iraq have the right to vote, and yet Iowans do not, thanks to the political shenanigans of Sen. Gronstal and Sen. Kibbie.
